So I’ve been educating myself a lot lately on economy, politics and sociology and I have formed an opinion that is also the opinion of some very intelligent men and women;

depression and anxiety is on the rise because society is fucked. We are force fed something we can never attain by the media, all the money in the world couldn’t satiate our desires because money means nothing, and we are left feeling hollow and unloved, because everyone is brought up to see everyone else as a threat and the competition.

And once we all stop feeling sorry for ourselves, stop seeing yourself as just an individual and not part of a collect, and start being aware that we are being shafted by the rich, we will have something to believe in and work together to make things better, and feel equal and accepted in society.

Lets stop being shafted.

For a friend who had troubles keeping track of the different sexual orientations. Sorry for not including all of them, I included the most common ones.

The illustration for Poly, Bi and Omni are just examples, of course.

HOLY SHIT THIS MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE

I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS THANK YOU

ALSO I THINK THIS MEANS I’M POLYSEXUAL? I DON’T FUCKING KNOW WHATEVER M8

I have some better advice for your friend who has troubles with keeping track of sexual orientation;

Don’t even let it trouble you.

in the UK, we don’t say “I dislike you” we take people’s ice cream’s out of the freezer to make room for our own on a hot summer’s day and I think that’s horrible

Poor Ian…

Retouching as an art form

Working for a professional retouching company has really got me thinking about what it means to take someone’s photo, and how mostly we still view photos in a very Victorian way, connecting that picture of yourself as you, rather than viewing it for what it really is, a reflection of light captured by a simple contraption that resembles what you look like. I think that’s why post production is still the plastic surgery of the photography world, you know, get it done but don’t go blabbing about it. But it may be healthier if we started viewing as post production as art, an exaggeration of reality, rather that what reality really is/could be if you bought this or did this. So maybe one day we’ll see a photograph of a flawless woman or man and instead of thinking ‘what a perfect woman/man she/he must be’, we’ll think ‘gaddamn that post production artist is good!’

Maybe, or maybe not. Thoughts?

I was brushing my teeth and the light hit the hair on my upper lip and made it look so obvious that I dived for the wax.
And when I was done I just felt a bit disappointed in myself and then annoyed that women are made to feel ashamed of their body hair and now we’re even feeling ashamed for feeling ashamed and it’s all bullshit really…

Asylum

Cant wait to Steampunk it up for an entire weekend! Anyone else going?
